TBILISI, Georgia –
TBILISI, Georgia - Members from U.S. Army Medical Research Directorate-Georgia gathered at Mukhatgverdi Military Cemetery in Tbilisi to pay respect to Georgia’s fallen soldiers by laying flowers in remembrance of their sacrifices, September 27, 2021.
The cemetery is the final resting place for many of Georgia’s heroes, including those who sacrificed their lives during the Russian-Georgian conflict of 2008, as well as fallen soldiers from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
The cemetery is the resting place for Sergeant Giorgi Antsukhelidze, the Georgian soldier who was killed in 2008, and posthumously was awarded the the Order of a National Hero by the Georgian President.
Members have laid flowers for the last six years to honor and remember the soldiers' valor and bravery.
